.: Thoughts on the Benefits of Meditation Music
Meditation is described by Webster's Dictionary as... "1. A calm lengthy intent consideration."
Some people prefer to meditate in silence while other's feel that background music or chanting helps them to reach a state of inner contemplation or mindfulness. It has been shown that sound, particularly baroqe music or
a continuous sound like the Om chant, stimulates alpha brainwaves. Alpha brainwaves indicate that the conscious mind has calmed and the one who meditates has become more aware of his or her subconscious, the gateway to the inner self.
